System assisted, nested system and selective system trading are a few of the terms we use to describe our approach.  Essentially we use our 180 Min Director System to show the direction of the market.  When this system is Long we trade the BUY signals on the Short MOM (momentum) Trading System running on a 100 Tick Chart or a short time frame chart.  The Short MOM Trading System is configured to BUY or SELL based on two distinctly different parameters.  The second buy or sell will occur only if the first position is "In the Money". 

The chart below shows the 180 Min Director in a Long Position. We therefore act on long signals on the 100 Tick chart.  We configure the CTG Futures Short MOM system (on the blue chart) to issue only BUY signals and the CTG Futures Short MOM system (on the red chart) to issue only SELL signals- this is done from within TradeStation. Once a trade is under way we have the option to exit on the reversing signal of the Short MOM System or stay with the trade if the 180 Min Director continues to perform.
